1991-1995 Toyota MR2 Turbo
Pros :
- Powerful engine combined with mid-engine layout and RWD.
- Little-Ferrari looks.
Cons :
- Compact interior.
- Heaviest MR2 ever built.
The turbocharged MR2 was offered only for four years and many consider it the ultimate MR2, especially when compared with the underpowered 2000 model convertible. The '91-'95 turbocharged MR2 offers people a semi-convertible with much more power.
The second-generation '91-'95 MR2 is a sleek car, complete with 80s style pop-up headlights and a sculpted rear wing. A T-top was optional, and some time in the later part of its life-cycle, the Turbo was offered only in T-top form, with the fixed-roof coupe option reserved for the naturally-aspirated base model. The Turbo also came with only a manual transmission, with the auto box reserved for the base model. As you may know, this car is strictly a two-seater with limited interior and luggage room, and the engine beating right behind the driver. This car is highly tossable due to its small size, mid-engine balance and rear-wheel-drive, but it isalso heavier compared to all other generations of the MR2, old and new. But the Turbo remains the fastest MR2 you can buy to this date.
Being a Toyota, you will expect extremely high build quality and reliability, which is what you get. As usual, just check for wear-and-tear caused by aggressive driving when buying one.
