Volkswagen Golf to be built in Mexico in 2014
Volkswagen will start production of the seventh generation VW Golf in their Pueble, Mexico factory from next year to boost sales in North America.
Volkswagen is hoping the move will increase their market share in the North and as well as the South American region, where they have struggled to compete with other big brands. VW will be investing $5 billion in the next three years in North America, according to CEO Martin Winterkorn.
By building the Volkswagen Golf in Mexico, the European manufacturer will incur lower labor costs as well as save themselves from the dollar/euro currency fluctuations.
The Puebla plant currently manufactures the Beetle, Jetta and sixth-generation Golf.
