In an unceremonious event, the last US-built Pontiac has rolled off the assembly line in Lake Orion, Michigan. The final car is a white Pontiac G6 sedan, celebrated only a few years ago by a massive giveaway on the Oprah show.
This G6 did not even get a respectful send off or a speech of any kind. Instead, a handful of employees stopped to snap cell-phone photos as the car slowly made its way down the assembly line. The subdued moment was further highlighted by the fact that the G6 will be sold as a fleet vehicle, instead of being retained as a museum piece.
Ironically, this isn’t the final Pontiac that is going to be produced. That dubious honor goes to the Korean-built G3 Wave, the Chevy Aveo clone, which is scheduled to go out of production in December this year.
