Nissan Leaf Nismo to start production
Nissan’s performance division Nismo has confirmed the Leaf Nismo will start production this year.
In an interview to Autocar, Nismo chief Shoichi Miyatani has said the model will be going into production in Japan this summer. Nissan will focus on sales in Japan first, with later plans developed for the U.S., Europe and worldwide market based on initial response.
The Nissan Leaf Nismo Concept was shown at the Tokyo Auto Salon recently. It featured an aggressive bodykit and larger alloy wheels. The engine will remain untouched, its electric drivetrain producing 107 bhp. But the torquey 207 lb-ft engine still makes the Leaf pretty zippy, with 0-60 mph times of under 7 seconds and a top speed of 90 mph.
