Lexus LF-Ch Concept previewing new hatchback
Lexus is desperate to reduce the average age of its old-fart buyers, and the IS sedan isn’t cutting it. So in the vein of the BMW 1-Series and the Audi A3, Lexus is readying a smaller hatchback model, and the LF-Ch concept offers a first look at its design direction.
The LF-Ch concept follows the Japanese company’s “L-finesse” design philosophy. Unique cues include four frameless doors, organic styling and rear door handles within the C-pillar trim.
The interior features aluminum and wood trim, ambient lighting in the headliner and Lexus’ Remote Touch controls, along with iPhone docks for the rear seat passengers.
Lexus isn’t releasing details on the LF-Ch’s engines, but the concept is said to have a fully hybrid-electric system and can be driven exclusively in electric mode.
The concept is debuting at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show. The production model is expected to debut in late 2010.
