2013 Toyota FT-86 nears production with new concept

NASA clears Toyota of electronic faults
The Toyota unintended-acceleration recall scandal is famous around the world now, although it seems as if the Americans actually did anything about it. The Department of Transportation enlisted the help of NASA scientists, the same ones responsible for the American space program, to have a look at the issues and software within Toyota and Lexus cars to see if the excessive unintended-acceleration claims had any electronic basis. Bumpers are the first line of defense against costly damage in everyday low-speed crashes. Bumpers on cars are designed to match up with each other in collisions, but a long-standing gap in federal regulations exempts SUVs from the same rules. Toyota and Lexus brake leak safety recall
Toyota has announced that it will conduct a voluntary Safety Recall involving approximately 740,000 – 2005 through 2006 Avalon, 2004 through 2006 Highlander (non Hybrid) and Lexus RX330, and 2006 Lexus GS300, IS250, and IS350 vehicles sold in the United States to address the possibility that a small amount of the brake fluid could slowly leak from the brake master cylinder, resulting in illumination of the brake warning lamp. 2000-2004 Toyota Avalon U.S. recall
Toyota has announced that it intends to conduct a voluntary safety recall involving approximately 373,000 2000-2004 Model Year Toyota Avalons sold in the United States to address the possibility that the vehicle’s steering lock bar could break under certain conditions. Lexus engine recall for LS, GS and IS
Toyota is currently preparing to recall a total of 270,000 Toyota Crown and Lexus LS, GS and IS models worldwide. As it turns out, some of the company’s 4.6L V8 and 3.5L V6 engines were built using faulty valve springs that may cause the car to stall while driving. About 180,000 of the faulty powerplants were sold outside of Japan. Continue reading »
