Allard Motor Works opens west coast dealership
Allard Motor Works, also known as AMW, has announced the opening of a new Allard dealership in Santa Monica, California. Allard West will now provide prospective Allard J2X MkII customers with an opportunity to experience the Commemorative Edition hand-crafted roadster for themselves.
Located at 3003 Pico Blvd in Santa Monica, California, the Allard West dealership is an important step in Allard Motor Works’ global market positioning for its unique offering– the Allard J2X MkII. “It is ironic that AMW is replicating Sydney Allard’s dealership initiative in California, some 57 years ago, when Al Moss (founder of Moss Motors) headed the new West Coast dealership,” comments Roger Allard, President, AMW. “In many ways, this West Coast dealership was instrumental in establishing the legend that the Allard J2X has become. In the early 1950s, the Allard J-series were the feature event at Torrey Pines,
Santa Barbara, Golden Gate Park, Riverside and Pebble Beach, in the hands of racing stars such as Bill Pollack, Al Moss and so many others.”
The Allard West dealership will be managed under the capable stewardship of Dennis Glavis, the successful owner of Morgan
West– the largest Morgan dealer in North America.
The Allard J2X MkII is delivered ‘fully-loaded’ with options restricted to the choice of engine, a full-width windshield and a canvas top. Current options include the 5.7L fuel-injected GM RamJet V8 , the 5.7L Chrysler Hemi and the 6.1L Hemi. Power ranges from 360 hp to 600 hp. The dry weight of the MkII is 2,560 lbs.
Allard West anticipates a July delivery of its new Allard J2X MkII demo car. The new roadster will be ‘Pozzi Blue’ with Poppy Red Muirhead leather upholstery, and is powered by a 370 hp 5.7L Hemi engine with a 5-speed Tremec manual transmission with overdrive, fully-independent suspension and oversized disc brakes.
T roadsters are built to order with an average 8 to 10 week delivery schedule. Once complete, each vehicle is assigned a special serial number by the Allard Registry. AMW can ensure new J2X MkII owners an unsurpassed ‘WOW’ factor and an appreciating value for their car, as the company will never release more than 100 J2X MkIIs per year, irrespective of demand.
