ABT Sportsline has given their treatment to the 2013 Audi A5 Sportback, calling it the ABT AS5. Both gasoline and diesel engines have been upgraded for more power, while the exterior gets some added flair.
When conceiving the upratings for the ABT AS5, the developers took account of the respective engine’s characteristics and saw to full dependability and road worthiness. The result is a car that gives a lot of pleasure, coming with a guarantee and regardless of which engine you have opted for.
There are three turbo petrol engine variants. After having been “ABTPOWERised”, the economical 1.8L TFSI shows 211 bhp (stock: 170 bhp), the 2.0L TFSI delivers 270 bhp (stock: 211 hp). Especially impressive is the 3.0L TFSI: 380 bhp (stock: 272 bhp), and a torque of 369 lb-ft makes this variant a real athlete. The turbo diesel engines also gets upgraded by ABT Sportsline: to 300 bhp (stock: 245 bhp) and an impressive torque of 420 lb-ft for the 3.0L TDI and torquey 205 bhp for the 2.0L TDI (stock: 177 bhp).
For the exterior, the ABT AS5 gets a front lip spoiler and an assertive rear end, including a rear skirt and the four-pipe exhaust. Sporty CR or DR alloy wheels, available in 19 or 20 inches, which ABT also sells them in combination with high-speed tires and wheel spacers.
The ABT Sportsline chassis springs lower the car’s centre of gravity by 1-inch to give it more performance precision. This is best done with the sport coilovers that makes for a maximum lowering of 2-inches. The driver selects the right setting for any given situation and positions the A5 between a luxurious limo and a racing car. At its limit, the car is made safer by an upgraded ABT braking system.
