2012 Nissan GT-R facelift and power boost
Specs for the updated 2012 Nissan GT-R have hit the net, and it looks like the GT-R gets a power boost to go with that facelift, and a quicker ‘Ring time.
According to a leaked Japanese spec sheet, the 2012 Nissan GT-R now gets 523 hp at 6400 rpm (or 530 ‘PS’ in another unit of power) and 451 lb-ft of torque from 3200 rpm to 6000 rpm.
Other changes to the 2012 GT-R include slightly revised aerodynamics, added turbo boost, larger exhaust piping, modified valve timing, transmission programming update and more.
The number of editions, at least in Japan, now include Club Track (racing-only), EGOIST (customized luxury), Pure Edition, Black Edition, Premium Edition, and SpecV.
The company now claims that the 2012 Nissan GT-R can circle the German benchmark Nurburgring racetrack in 7 minutes and 20 seconds. Dropping the ‘Ring time from 7:26.4 to 7:20 theoretically beats both the Corvette ZR1 and 911 GT3 RS, both of which were quicker than the outgoing GT-R.
