For some reason, BMW released the new 2012 BMW 6-Series Convertible first, complete with a media launch event in South Africa, and is already on sale in the U.S. and other countries. Now BMW has revealed details about the Coupe version.

Under the bonnet sits the same 400 hp turbocharged 4.4L V8 as the 650i convertible, with 450 lb-ft of torque from 1750 rpm up to 4500 rpm. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission with paddle-shifters, with a traditional 6-speed manual gearbox also available. Both manual and automatic versions are capable of 0-60 mph in 4.8 seconds and an electronically-limited top speed of 155 mph.

As with the convertible, the 2012 6-Series coupe comes with a 10.2-inch high-definition screen, lane departure warning, blind spot monitor, rear and top-view cameras, a parking assistant and a 3D heads-up display.

The 6-Series convertible is already on sale in the United States, and we’d expect the coupe to hit the streets by summer.
